How does it work?
Evaporative cooling uses the fact that water will absorb a relatively large amount of heat in order to evaporate. The temperature of dry air can be dropped significantly through the phased transition of liquid water to water vapor (evaporation). This can cool air using much less energy than refrigeration.
Robust and solidly manufactured from special bacteria resistant plastic with a biodegradable filter, the TotalCool 3000 has been designed with green credentials in mind. Blowing 45% cooler air from normal tap water, the TotalCool 3000 can be used as easily in remote locations as at home or work bringing you cool air whenever you need it as long as you can open a door, window or vent to allow some fresh air in to supply the TotalCool.
You just add 1.5 litres of normal tap water up to the filler level on the side of the unit and that will give you between 10 – 30 hours of cold air depending on the fan speed. They have designed the evaporation to be slow so you get no excess humidity, damp air or condensation even facing a pain of glass you will not get a drop of condensation.
Once you have added your water you can add 4 – 5 drops of an essential oil like the TotalFresh collection, If you use citronella you will find it repels mosquitos and flies whether you locate it indoors, in the awning or outside while you are barbequing.
The TotalCool is popular for use in leisure vehicles, lorries and around the home. It is also very useful for keeping a tent temperate down in the heat of summer, where a sunny morning can turn your tent into a greenhouse within minutes! People also use them to keep pets cool when left in a vehicle. It is important to note a supply of fresh air is required for these units to be effective; so, it is essential a window is left partially open.
The manufacturers maintain achieving 45% colder air over 7 metre length, by about 3 metres in width and 3 metres in height is possible.
The TotalCool 3000 is Tri-voltage with a very low current draw so you can use it in a vehicle 12-volt or 24-volt power socket or for use on site hook up or around the home it comes with a mains power cable to use in any mains AC power socket.
The TotalCool 3000 fan is efficient, i only uses 0.3 amps or 4 watts per hour on the low fan speed, or up to 1.8 amps (22 watts) on high fan speeds, so it is very low power consumption, but very powerful. It will likely work for around 100 hours on the average leisure battery or between 30 and 50 hours from a car battery, run on the low fan setting.
