We have chosen to supply taps made by Comet because of their reputation for reliability, coupled with an understanding of what the mobile home requires.
The Comet London chrome tap is a modern chromed lightweight tap. It feels quality, with a smooth resistance to all moving parts such as the tap spout, the mixer lever (left to right) and the adjustable flow (top to bottom).
CamperHappy.co.uk specifically chose to supply the Comet London as a stand-alone item because it is often fitted to our smallest sink/hob combo the CAN Foldy (see the links further down this page). It can also be retrofitted to our CAN hobs where a single cold water tap is supplied as standard. We can retrofit this for you if required as it needs the tap hole drilling out.
It is the smallest tap we offer, and will fold into a sink that is just 180mm front to back and requires little space behind for plumbing.75mm should be sufficient.
The tap spout rotates north to south a full 340 degrees and will stay exactly where you place it without dropping. This makes it perfect to fit on the vertical inner face of your sink, so it can be folded below a sink cover glass or otherwise giving you a full prep work surface. This also means any accidental spills from the tap go down the plughole and not over your work surface!
The control lever to the right of the spout lifts to turn the tap on with a faint click reassuring you that the microswitch has engaged. On the hot and cold mixer, the further you push the lever the hotter the water will be.
We supply this tap as standard with 45-degree hose tails already fitted. They fit directly to the tap to keep you plumbing behind as compact as possible. All you need do is connect your flexible hose onto the tails with a jubilee clamp. We can supply you these separately.
Drill diameter for the threaded mount should be with a 27 – 30mm holesaw and it will tighten up on any sink or work surface up to 19mm.
Because these taps are fitted with integrated micro switch you will find 2 small wires to the underside of the tap. These can be wired to interrupt the power supply to your submersible water pump. They are very easy to wire in and a quick search through YouTube will throw up a multitude of easy step by step videos you can follow. They will also work fine with a pressurised system where the pump is a stand-alone unit that turns on as soon as a top is opened. These systems often have a pump control switch on your electrical panel. Incidentally, we supply water tanks with integrated pressure switch pumps. please browse our site.
The tap manufacturer, Comet advises the tap will work safely with pressures up to 3 Bar, water up to 65°C.
